Prostate Pleasure Guide for Men (India): Where It Is, What It Feels Like and How to Start

Butt plugs for men by Thirdbase

By Thirdbase Wellness · 10 September 2026

Curious about prostate pleasure but not sure where to begin? That is completely normal, and you are in good company. This prostate pleasure guide for men in India covers where the prostate actually is (in centimetres, not vibes), what it feels like when you find it, three ways to reach it, and how to start without pain, mess or panic. Adult-to-adult, no lecture.

The short answer

The prostate sits about 5 to 7 cm inside the rectum, on the front wall (the side facing your belly). You can reach it indirectly by pressing firmly on the perineum, or directly with a lubricated finger or a flared-base toy using a slow "come here" motion. Go slow, use plenty of water-based lube, and stop if anything hurts.

What is the prostate, and why does it feel good?

The prostate is a small gland, roughly the size of a walnut (about 3 to 4 cm across, around 20 g), that sits just below the bladder and wraps around the urethra. Its day job is making part of the fluid in semen. Its side job, the one this guide is about, is that it is one of the most responsive erogenous zones in the body: packed with nerve endings and swells during arousal, which makes it responsive to pressure in a way no external spot on the body is.

People sometimes call it the "male G-spot", which is not anatomically precise but gets the idea across: an internal zone that responds to firm, steady pressure rather than friction. Every person with a prostate has one in the same place, so this is not a niche thing. It is simply a body part most men in India have never been told about, because school biology stops at "makes fluid".

One thing worth saying plainly: enjoying prostate stimulation says nothing about your sexuality. The prostate is a gland. It has no opinion about who you are attracted to.

Where exactly is it? (the numbers)

Most guides say "a couple of inches in". Here is the fuller picture so you are not guessing.

Measure Typical figure What it means for you
Depth from the anal opening 5 to 7 cm (about 2 to 2.75 inches) A finger inserted to the second knuckle is usually enough. You do not need length.
Direction Front wall, towards the navel Curl towards your belly, never towards your spine.
Size About 3 to 4 cm across It is not a pinpoint. You are feeling for a firm, rounded area, not a button.
Texture when aroused Firmer and slightly larger than at rest Being turned on first makes it noticeably easier to find.
External access point Perineum, midway between scrotum and anus Firm pressure here reaches it from outside. No insertion needed.

Two practical takeaways. First, depth is not the challenge, angle is: almost everyone who "can't find it" is pressing on the back wall or the side. Second, because it swells with arousal, the best time to go looking is 10 to 15 minutes into a session, not cold.

What prostate stimulation actually feels like

Different from anything external. Most people describe a deep, spreading pressure that builds slowly, often with a sensation similar to needing to pee in the first 30 to 60 seconds. That feeling passes; it is the prostate responding, not your bladder, especially if you emptied it beforehand.

Three honest expectations. It builds slower than penile stimulation, so give it 10 to 20 minutes rather than 2. It usually feels best combined with something external at the same time, at least at first. And a prostate-focused orgasm, when it happens, tends to feel more full-body and can happen without ejaculation, which means some people can continue afterwards. Some people never get an orgasm from it at all and still find it worth doing. Both are normal.

Three ways to reach it, compared

You do not have to start with insertion. Many people begin externally for a few sessions and only go internal once they know what they are looking for.

Method How Intensity Best for Watch out for
External (perineum) Two fingers, flat, firm pressure held on the perineum; or a small vibrator pressed there Low to medium First-timers, anyone nervous about insertion, adding to solo or partnered sex Rubbing does little; hold and press instead
Finger (internal) Lubricated index finger, palm up, curled towards the navel at 5 to 7 cm Medium, fully controllable Learning the location and the pressure you like Trimmed nails; go in to the second knuckle at most
Toy (internal) Flared-base plug or curved prostate massager, inserted and held or moved slowly Medium to high, hands-free possible Longer sessions, partnered play, pressure without hand fatigue Must have a flared base; diameter matters more than length

How to prepare (10 minutes, not an hour)

Preparation is mostly about relaxing, and relaxing is mostly about removing the things you would otherwise worry about.

  1. Use the bathroom, then shower. A normal bowel movement plus an ordinary shower is enough. You do not need an enema; the rectum does not store stool most of the time.
  2. Nails short and smooth, hands washed. If you are using fingers, this is the single most important step. A rough nail edge is the most common cause of a sore first attempt.
  3. Lube within reach, and more than you think. Water-based only, especially with silicone toys. The rectum does not lubricate itself. Plan to reapply every few minutes.
  4. Get aroused first. 10 to 15 minutes of whatever normally works. An aroused prostate is firmer and easier to locate.
  5. Put a towel down and set 30 minutes aside. Rushing is the second most common cause of a bad first attempt.

Step by step: your first session

This is the finger version. Substitute a slim toy for the finger if you prefer, keeping every other step the same.

  1. Warm up outside. With a lubricated fingertip, press and circle around the anal opening for 2 to 3 minutes without going in. Breathe out slowly. The outer muscle relaxes on the exhale.
  2. Enter on an exhale. Fingertip only, then pause 20 to 30 seconds. Then to the first knuckle, pause again. Then to the second knuckle. Total time to get there: 3 to 5 minutes, and that is not slow, that is correct.
  3. Turn towards the navel. Palm up, curl the finger gently forward. You are looking for a firm, rounded area about the size of a walnut. If you feel nothing, you are probably not aroused enough or you are on the wrong wall; adjust and wait rather than pushing deeper.
  4. Press, do not thrust. Use a slow "come here" curl, or hold steady pressure like pressing a doorbell for 5 to 10 seconds, release, repeat. Thrusting in and out does very little for the prostate.
  5. Add external stimulation. Your other hand, a partner, a stroker, or a vibrator on the perineum or penis. Most people find the internal sensation only "clicks" once it is combined with something familiar.
  6. Vary and listen. Try circling the perimeter, faster small curls, and firmer holds. Give each 1 to 2 minutes before judging it.
  7. Come out slowly. On an exhale, over 10 to 15 seconds. Then wash hands, and clean any toy immediately.

Positions that make it easier

Position Solo or partner Why it works Downside
On your back, knees pulled up Both Easiest angle for the front wall; you can see and relax Solo reach is awkward for longer arms; a toy helps
On your side, top knee to chest Both Very relaxed, low effort, good for long sessions Slightly less pressure control
Kneeling, chest down on a pillow Partner (or solo with a toy) Gravity opens the angle; easy access for a partner Can feel exposed if you are nervous
Squatting or lowering onto a toy Solo You control depth exactly; good with a flared-base plug Needs a stable surface, not a slippery bathroom floor

Choosing a toy: shape, base, diameter

A toy makes prostate play hands-free and repeatable, which is why most people who stick with it end up buying one. Three things matter, in this order.

1. A flared base, non-negotiable

The rectum has no natural stop. Anything inserted must have a base wider than the body of the toy, or it can travel further than you can reach. This rules out bullets, most "massagers" not made for anal use, and anything improvised. A flared base or a T-bar base is the only kind of toy that belongs here.

2. Diameter before length

The prostate is 5 to 7 cm in, so almost every toy is long enough. What decides comfort is width. Start at 2.5 to 3 cm at the widest point (our sizing guide explains how to measure). A common mistake is buying something impressive-looking; the honest advice is that a first toy should feel slightly too small.

3. Shape: straight plug or curved massager

A straight, tapered plug gives steady pressure and works well with the position and clench techniques below. A curved prostate massager (the kind with a bend towards the navel and a perineum arm) targets the gland more directly. We do not currently make a curved massager; if direct, aggressive targeting is your goal, that is the shape to buy. For learning, pressure and partnered play, a well-sized plug does the job and is easier to insert.

Toy Material Insertable length Base Weight Vibration Who it suits
Peach Please Small TPE, soft 2.5 in (about 6.4 cm) Flared Light None First-ever insertion; sits at the shallow end of prostate depth
Peach Please Medium TPE, soft 3.2 in (about 8.1 cm) Flared 20 g None The step up once Small feels easy
Between the Cheeks Medical-grade silicone + ABS 3 in (about 7.6 cm) Crystal stopper base 25 g None Non-porous, boilable, tapered tip; suits partnered play and longer wear

A note on materials that costs us nothing to say: TPE is soft and forgiving for a first try but porous, so it is a consumable you replace. Silicone is non-porous and lasts years (here is what body-safe silicone actually means). Both are water-based lube only. For the full breakdown, read our guide to body-safe sex toy materials.

The clench trick that replaces thrusting

With a plug in place, tighten the pelvic floor (the muscle you use to stop a stream of urine) for 3 to 5 seconds, then release. The muscle moves the toy against the prostate for you. Ten to fifteen slow repetitions, combined with external stimulation, is the most reliable technique most people never hear about.

Doing this with a partner

Consent is the whole thing here, in both directions. Ask before, check in during, and agree on a word that means stop. If raising it feels awkward, our guide on how to talk about kinks with your partner has scripts that work. "Surprise" prostate play is not a gift, it is a request that was never made.

For the giving partner: the receiver sets the pace, full stop. Enter only on their exhale, pause at each stage, and ask "more or same?" rather than "is this okay?", which invites a polite yes. Use a fresh glove or a condom over a finger if either of you prefers; it also makes clean-up simpler. Pair internal pressure with whatever the receiver already likes, whether that is a hand, mouth or a vibrator on the perineum. The same principles as using a vibrator with your partner apply: the toy joins the two of you, it does not replace anyone.

For the receiving partner: say what you feel out loud, even if the words are clumsy. "Deeper" and "more towards the front" are more useful than moaning, at least for the first few sessions. If it stops feeling good, say so immediately. Nobody is keeping score.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Going in cold. Not aroused, not relaxed, straight to insertion. Give it 10 to 15 minutes of warm-up first.
  • Thrusting. The prostate responds to pressure and slow curling, not in-and-out. Speed comes later, if at all.
  • Too little lube. If it stings or drags, you are under-lubricated. Reapply every 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Pressing on the back wall. Face the navel. If you feel only a smooth wall, you are on the wrong side.
  • Using something without a flared base. Ever. No exceptions.
  • Buying too big. Diameter, not length, decides comfort. Start at 2.5 to 3 cm.
  • Judging it in one session. Most people need 3 to 5 sessions before the sensation makes sense. That is not failure, that is the learning curve. If nerves about "performing" are getting in the way, the performance anxiety guide covers the attention loop behind it.
  • Pushing through pain. Pressure is fine. Sharp pain, burning or bleeding means stop for today. If it happens repeatedly, it is worth mentioning to a doctor, the same way you would for any persistent discomfort.

Troubleshooting

What is happening Likely cause Fix
I can't find anything Not aroused enough, or on the wrong wall Warm up 10 to 15 minutes, then curl towards the navel at 5 to 7 cm
It feels like I need to pee Normal prostate response in the first minute Empty your bladder beforehand; breathe through it, it passes in 30 to 60 seconds
It feels like nothing much Missing external stimulation, or judging too early Add a hand or vibrator externally; give each technique 1 to 2 minutes; give the whole thing 3 to 5 sessions
The outer muscle won't relax Rushing, anxiety, cold start Exhale on entry, pause 20 to 30 seconds at each stage, or stay external this session
Stinging or dragging Not enough lube Reapply; use more than feels reasonable
I went soft partway through Completely common as your attention shifts inward Ignore it. Prostate sensation does not depend on being hard, and it usually comes back on its own
Sore afterwards Too big, too fast, or a nail edge Rest a few days; go one size down and slower next time

Cleaning, care and India-specific notes

Wash any toy with warm water and a mild soap immediately after use, before the lube dries. Silicone toys with no motor, like Between the Cheeks, can be boiled for 3 to 5 minutes. TPE cannot be boiled: warm water, mild soap, dry completely, store in its own pouch. Full method in how to clean and store sex toys.

Three India-specific realities. First, if you live with family, a plug is one of the quietest, most compact toys there is: no motor, no charger, fits in a pouch smaller than a phone. Second, discreet delivery matters and we ship in plain packaging with a neutral sender name; see how to buy sex toys discreetly in India and, if you share a home, discreet sex toys when living with family. Third, water-based lube is sold at every chemist in India; ask for a water-based personal lubricant and check the label says water-based, since the cheap tubes at the counter are often petroleum-based, which damages silicone and is hard to wash out of the body.

One more, because it comes up: using a condom over a finger or toy is a sensible habit if you are sharing toys or switching between partners. Our condom compatibility guide covers which materials and lubes go together.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the prostate located?

About 5 to 7 cm inside the rectum, on the front wall facing the navel. It is roughly walnut-sized, 3 to 4 cm across, and feels firmer and slightly larger when you are aroused. A finger inserted to the second knuckle and curled forward will usually reach it. It can also be pressed from outside through the perineum.

How do I know if I am touching my prostate?

You will feel a firm, rounded area on the front wall rather than smooth tissue, and pressing it produces a deep, spreading pressure, often with a brief need-to-pee sensation in the first minute. If you feel only smooth wall, you are likely too shallow, on the wrong side, or not aroused enough yet.

Does enjoying prostate play mean anything about my sexuality?

No. The prostate is a gland every person with one has in the same place, and it responds to pressure regardless of who you are attracted to. Curiosity about it is about your own body and nothing else. Plenty of straight men in India explore it solo or with a female partner.

Can you reach the prostate without insertion?

Yes. Firm, held pressure on the perineum (the flat area between the scrotum and the anus) reaches the prostate indirectly. Use two flat fingers or a small vibrator pressed there during solo or partnered sex. It is milder than internal stimulation and an excellent first step.

Do I need an enema first?

No. A normal bowel movement and an ordinary shower are enough for the depth involved, which is 5 to 7 cm. Enemas can irritate the lining and are unnecessary for this. Put a dark towel down, keep wipes nearby, and accept that this is a body and bodies are not sterile.

What size toy should a beginner use for prostate play?

Start with a widest point of about 2.5 to 3 cm and an insertable length of 6 to 8 cm, which is enough to reach 5 to 7 cm depth. It must have a flared base. A first toy should feel slightly too small; you can size up after a few comfortable sessions.

Is a butt plug good for prostate stimulation?

Yes, for steady pressure and partnered play. A tapered plug held in place, combined with pelvic-floor clenches and external stimulation, is a reliable technique. A curved prostate massager targets the gland more directly; a plug is easier to insert and better for learning. Many people use both over time.

How long does it take to feel anything?

Within a session, allow 10 to 20 minutes after insertion, not 2. Across sessions, most people need 3 to 5 attempts before the sensation makes sense. Combining internal pressure with familiar external stimulation speeds this up more than any single technique does.

Why does it feel like I need to pee?

Because the prostate sits right below the bladder and pressing it fires similar nerves. It is a normal response in the first 30 to 60 seconds and passes. Empty your bladder beforehand so you can relax through it rather than clench against it.

Is prostate massage safe?

Done slowly, with lube, short nails and a flared-base toy, it is a low-risk activity most people can enjoy. Stop if there is sharp pain, burning or bleeding, and skip it while you have any anal or rectal soreness. Persistent pain or bleeding is worth a doctor's visit, as with any part of the body.

Which lube is best for prostate play?

Water-based, always, and more than you think. It is safe with every toy material, including silicone, and easy to wash off. Reapply every 3 to 5 minutes. Avoid petroleum jelly and oils, which damage silicone toys and are difficult to clean from the body.

We make sex toys, not diagnoses. Consent, lube and patience are the whole method.
